Young Volunteers

The KIND Young Volunteers programme has been setup to give young people aged 11-16 the opportunity to develop and learn new skills in a fun, inclusive and safe environment. Over a ten-weekYoung Volunteers period, each programme aims to give a group of young volunteers the chance to learn how they, both individually and as a group, can positively influence our community. Whilst also developing skills that they can take away and use in their everyday life.

Young Volunteers take part in a range of events and activities based around specific skills: teamwork, responsibility, organisation, communication and citizenship. These can include organising an event for people within their communities, organising and taking part in fundraising events, or learning new skills such as first aid.

We hope that, in taking an active role in both organising and carrying out a range of voluntary activities, each volunteer will gain in confidence, develop new skills,Young Volunteers learn to help others and make a close network of friends.

On completing the ten week course we look to continue offering support to each volunteer, so that in time, we can open up more opportunities for them.

" I think the young volunteers course is good because we are learning how to do things and gaining new skills .We go out on day trips which are all great experiences. We went to watch Everton which was great. I have also enjoyed going to the theatre which I have never been to before. My favourite show was Hansel and Gretel. The special effects were amazing."

"The young volunteer course is amazing. We go out on trips and learn lots of new things. I have been to the theatre which was brilliant and I got to watch my favourite football team play. I have made lots of new friends. I enjoyed going to the fire station gym were we took part in some circuit traing and learnt about healthy eating. I now want to help the charity and my friend and I are arranging a sponsored walk."

"I joined KIND young volunteers because my brother had taken part on the course and recommended it to me. I am having a great time. I have made lots of new friends and I’m gaining lots of new skills. I now have a first aid certificate which is great. I have also taken part on the cooking course, now I know how to cook and eat tasty, healthy food."

"The course is so much fun. I have made so many new friends. Everyone here is really nice. I want to be an artist so I really love the arts and crafts workshops. I have made wall art, dream catchers and even houses made out of sweets! I also enjoyed the theatre and taking the first aid course. I hope to stay in touch with KIND and be able to help in the future."
