Residential Breaks

The KIND summer residential project is a series of week-long outdoor learning experiences for local disadvantaged children aged 6-13. The project is held at the Redridge Centre, Wales, with the aim of giving children a ‘break’ in every sense of the word – showing them that they and life do have more to offer.

The breaks are specially designed for children and structured around their needs. The children spend a week, learning both about themselves and the environment, including issues such as co-operation vs competition, team work and self discovery. Practical tasks include work around natural flora and fauna, treks, kayaking, rock climbing, overnight camps and work with animals.

Whatever the children are taught on our breaks we aim to capture their imagination, so as to make learning interesting and fun. The focus is very much on personal growth through an individual’s sense of self-worth, allied to team spirit and caring. Each child receives individual attention and all are encouraged to work at their own pace. At the end of the week everyone receives a certificate to recognise their achievement.

In order for us to be KIND
we need your help.

We can only run our Residential project thanks to the generous help and support of others. A week-long stay on one of our Residential Breaks at the Redridge Centre, Wales, costs £350 per child and every year we take, on average, 3-400 children. Which is why, every donation or means of support we receive is vitally important to us.
