In a year we spend about £25,000 on items giving Practical Help to families.
A set of bunk beds, for example, costs £175.

“We are turning out a generation of young people who are unhappy, unhealthy, engaging in risky behaviour, who have poor relationships with their family and their peers, who have low expectations and don’t feel safe.”
Sir Al Aynsley-Green, Children’s Commissioner for England 2007

Last but by no means least, there’s the Practical Help that KIND provides to children and families all year round. It can take many forms: from a cot for the new baby to a fridge, a settee or some other much-needed item for the home.

Whether appealing to the good nature of a retailer, or using money from fundraising, we aim to help by getting hold of something that somebody desperately needs. And because there are no forms or bureaucracy, we can do it when the need is greatest, making a real difference in times of hardship.
