"I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot"
Melissa Taylor

"I had a great time and found out about lots of new things that I did know or had even seen before"
Shaun Woods

“The health behaviour of the nation’s children needs to be addressed immediately in order to ameliorate the long-term effects of poor nutrition. An increase in childhood obesity has led to a resultant increase in diabetes. Families should be educated and empowered through guidance that recognises the impact they have on their children’s development.”
Preventing Childhood Obesity, British Medical Association 2005

From the outset KIND’s Residential Breaks were seen not as a weeklong holiday but rather an outdoor classroom experience. And that’s what they have remained, building on years of experience to develop new and exciting opportunities for 6 to 13 year-olds.

As these pictures show, the activities are as diverse as they are stimulating, both mentally and physically. Whether learning about nutrition and cooking, field studies or sessions on literacy and numeracy, the aim is to capture the imagination of young minds so as to make learning interesting and fun.

The focus is very much on personal growth through the individual’s sense of selfworth, allied to team spirit and caring.
